Images and movies from Chinese language state media confirmed folks watching two polar bears in an indoor enclosure that includes synthetic ice and small swimming pools of water.
Yang Liu, a spokeswoman for Harbin Polarland, informed Reuters that the indoor space is simply a part of the bears’ whole enclosure, and that they’re let outside when temperature and air high quality allow.

Conservationists criticized the lodge.
“Polar bears belong within the Arctic, not in zoos or glass packing containers in aquariums — and definitely not in resorts,” Jason Baker, senior vp at animal rights group PETA, informed Reuters. “Polar bears are energetic for as much as 18 hours a day in nature, roaming house ranges that may span hundreds of miles, the place they take pleasure in an actual life.”
