The Ethiopian Nationwide Defence Pressure will take over guarding the border areas instantly, Abiy stated.
1000’s of civilians are believed to have been killed since November, when Abiy launched a significant navy operation towards Tigray’s ruling celebration, the Tigray Folks’s Liberation Entrance (TPLF), sending in nationwide troops and fighters from Ethiopia’s Amhara area.
Abiy claimed on Friday that the TPLF had provoked Eritrea’s navy involvement by firing rockets into its capital Asmara, and thereby prompting the Eritrean authorities to “preserve its nationwide safety.”
“Reviews point out that atrocities have been dedicated in Tigray area,” Abiy wrote in a put up on his Twitter account. “Whatever the TPLF propaganda of exaggeration, any soldier chargeable for raping our ladies & looting communities within the area shall be held accountable as their mission is to guard.”
Abiy was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2019 for resolving a long-running battle with neighboring Eritrea, ending 20 years of hostilities. Critics say that Abiy’s much-lauded peace take care of Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki set the stage for the 2 sides to wage warfare towards the TPLF — their mutual enemy.
On Monday, the Eritrean embassy of the UK and Eire responded to CNN’s repeated requests for remark by denying allegations of wrongdoing by Eritrean troopers and denying that Eritrean troops had been in Ethiopia.
